Recently, I’ve been inspired by couples who are bravely making their wedding celebration their own. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the Enneagram, but I have unashamedly hopped on its bandwagon of self discovery. As a 4, some of my basic desires are to uniquely be who I am and seek vulnerability. In fact, my tagline is completely rooted in this. I was listening to an Enneagram podcast about the fours, which I find myself doing a lot these days, when the host said that fours are found “aspiring towards authenticity and depth”. Those few words felt like one of the clearest explanations of my actions that I’ve ever heard. They stuck with me and then one day it dawned on me. I can make this desire a core value of my business. With photography, I can make people feel seen and known, and enable them to be the completely wonderful individuals that they are by helping them cultivate an experience around their personalities.
A few months ago, I had the privilege of attending a creative workshop called, Styledyou in Tuscany, Italy! It truly was an experience that developed these desires of my heart further. We were taught about many facets of the wedding industry (calligraphy, styling, design, etc) as well as getting the opportunity to style our own Tuscan elopement among a group of incredibly talented wedding creatives. I walked away so much more aware of the opportunity to personalize this thing, on a scale even deeper than I thought possible.
I’m sharing this with you because I believe there’s joy to be found in honoring yourself and what you love. Knowing these desires of our hearts and calling them into existence is a part in the process of fully walking into who we were created to be. I want you to know that you are free to be who you are. In fact, I honestly think we are unable to achieve growth until we press into this freedom. Within the wedding world specifically, it can be hard to hear our voice in the midst of everyone else, but it’s important to give your own voice power along with the other voices you choose to give power.
I want to be the photographer that supports you as you dig deeper in this process, uncovering what makes your journey special and what quirky things shape your relationship! Let’s do it, friends. Let’s get creative. Let’s build an environment for authenticity and continue learning about ourselves along the way!
